The Conscience Made Perfect
Isaiah 1:18-20 clearly states, "Come now, and let us reason together," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land; but if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured by the sword." The mouth of the LORD has spoken.
Scarlet and crimson refer to a deep-red, permanent dye, and we all know how difficult it is to remove such stains—much like the stain of sin in our lives. This stain is incredibly permanent, except for one powerful remedy: God's grace. It's the only cleansing agent capable of removing sin's stain, ensuring we don't have to go through life marked by the effects of sin.
What we see regarding sin's stain may differ significantly from what traditional religion teaches us. When we discuss the stain of sin, we’re not merely discussing behavior; we're addressing a darkened conscience, a wisdom so marred that it drove mankind away from God, driven by fear, shame, and self-condemnation.
It's essential to recognize that it wasn't God who recoiled from a “wretch” like us; rather, it was our own stained conscience that kept us from facing God, leading to our self-condemnation.
